Alternator Belt problem with 400+whp cars
I'm trying to figure out why I keep snapping alternator belts. I've changed the crank pulley because it had a huge chunk missing thinking it would throw off the balance but that didn't work. I also changed the alternator itself but that didn't work. The belts seem to have a longer lifespan than before but they still snap. These are brand new OEM belts btw.
Even though the belts are only around 10 bucks and it takes 5-10minutes to change it gets annoying especially when im on the Dyno or at the Track.
I've talked to a couple other guys 400whp+ hondas and they said they have the same problem. I'm stumped. Anyone have suggestions on a fix?

how tight are you putting them? that might have something to do with it..... have you tried to set them at a different tightness?
Power has nothing to do with driving accessories. Its all engine rpm. But it sounds like your making them FAR too tight if they are actually snapping. Check out the service manual. I believe there should be a 1-2 inch deflection in the middle of the belt.
if u are running stock mounts, or pos mounts that still flex, what happens is the motor leans back when its loaded and the belt actually rubs against part of the frame
some ppl get lucky (like me) and never snap a belt
others who arent so lucky(like my friend) end up snapping 2-3 belts in a row at the track
