I dont understand...Youre losing power?? Because there arent degrees of vtec engagement...It either engages...or it doesnt...

yea you would think after a while the "oh **** meh vtec's broke" threads would fizzle out a little...If hes losing power than its a concern but transition should be nice and smooth...no sudden exponential increase in torque upon engagement

werd, just enough power to feel vtec is kicking

r u using those stage1 cams with the stock ECU? is the VTEC engagement at stock settings? if it is then u should feel a little bog. raise the VTEC crossover to 55K+ will a VAFC oor chipped ECU and you'll be fine
i have a chipped ecu and yes it was tuned, my vtec kicks in at 5k. before my vtec used to feel like my friends rsx type s ivtec but no i can barely feel it, it kicks in but feels like its holding back. i havent changed anything in the motor since
alright i might be able to help you....
First, there are cars out there where Vtec packs a punch when it engages,Especailly when you throw cams in it (aftermarket). My friends type r with skunk 2 stage 2's was a totally different car when it hit vtec, was like night and day. Then my other friends LS-Vtec with stage 1 cams still packed a punch when vtec hit. same thing happend to him though, after months of driving around on the same tune....it started to "die out". heres why:
A tuned car,or modded car (in your case cams) has to be tuned ATLEAST twice a year,or if you have money, prefered every season change. you might get it tuned in the summer, but when fall/winter start to come in,your motor is no longer "tuned to a T". The different climate, atmosphereic (sp?) pressure, humidity, all change, and these things all change how your motor is tuned. So first things first,i would go for a re-tune if the season has recently changed,or if you havent had one in a couple months. Then go to plugs and wires. take out the plugs, look at them, maybe clean them up a little. Look at wires/cap for cracks, missing parts, etc. The tune, plugs, and wires will definatly take car of this problem. If your compression is fine,no CEL codes,so nothing wrong in the fuel dilivery, and you check your ign. system, then nothing is wrong with yuor motor. its either it needs a good retune,or your getting used to the cars power and it feels slower to you. Hope this helps, because its what i experienced ALOT with Vtec motors with internal work.
