Default Aftermarket Speaker Recommendations

My brother drives an '01 s2k and his speakers sound pretty bad (they crackle alot) so I want to get him some nice new speakers for christmas. The problem is, there's not much you can do with only 2 speakers, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pair of full range speakers.

Even if I could talk him into adding a sub or some tweeters, the fact remains that his door speakers suck and need replaced first. So, I'd need something with good range (esp. on the low end) and decent power handling (stock hu, but don't want these to crackle when he cranks it up).

What have you guys had luck with?

I just put in some infinity reference speakers. They sound great. no modifications needed and the fit perfect. The price was great tool. Only about 80 bucks. I reccomend them.

To be completely honest. All the companies stated above are around the same quality level.

And its hard to give someone advice on something like speakers...as most all speakers have a different sound. Your best bet would be to try and find a specialty shop that sells those speakers and listen to them. I love the JL's because of their sound...They sounded great from their lows to the highs.

Speakers really are something people have their own tastes on.

New deck first. Stock HU power cant push any of those speakers to what they need to sound good. They still crackle at high volumes. New deck will make the existing speakers sound better.
