Vibration on steering wheel
Hello, i m tired of having my steering wheel vibratin everytime i drive over 60mph, i have a set of Tein SS coilovers and they are great, but the vibration is killing me!! Some people have told me that after lowering the car i have to do the alignment on the car which i went to do the other day, just to find out that the mechanic at the shop told me that in order to align the car i have to get a set of aftermarket camber kits to adjust it properly, is it true? couldn't he adjust it with the oem cambers that the car already has?? if in fact i have to get camber kits, should i buy the whole set or only the cambers for the front??? and finally which BRAND is the best?? THANX for the help peace out!
As long as your not slammed hard you can get the alignment done. People are usually uneasy about working on a modified car. If you are just lowered like 2 inches or so you'll be fine.
i know but what about if there's half a finger gap between the tire and the body of the car? then i'd need a camber kit right? so do i need only for the front of the car or both front and back??

Probably not since he says he just lowered his car.

The wheels may still need balancing for whatever reason.
The shop was correct in that there's only so much adjustment they can do without camber kits, but they should be able to set the toe angle back to zero front & rear, and for a daily driver that's the most important correction to make.
Tell them that you'll understand that front camber might be able to be tweaked a bit, that you'll live with the rear camber for now, but that the toe should be fixable; other EP owners do it the same way.

you need the camber kit sorry...if the mechanic does the alignment without it he cant do much of an adjustment and urll be back in 2-3 weeks with the same problem and ur tires wornout....its just best to get all the kits, front and rear and get a brand called SPC their the best....also ur tires might need balancing as well have em check that out as well....i work at a shop so i kinda know this
a couple of weeks ago I brought in my homies 02 DC5 dropped about 1-1/2 inches and he needed the same thing done....btw what car do u have?
P.S. make you get all a 4 wheel alignment and that it has warranty

Ive put almost 20k on a set of Kuhmo SPT's and am dropped about 3 inches on Ksport colivers with NO camber kit and have been fine. I got an alignment and everything has been great.

well, depends on how much you've lowered it.
When you lower your car, you put stress on all the components. Things such as your brakes for instance. Your brakes could be causing your vibration from being worn out. How long has your car been lowered for? Your tires could need a balancing too.
Theres numerous possiblities as to why your steering is vibrating.
Buy the camber kit, have it aligned, and if it still doesn't go away, then it could be your brakes.
Camber kits-
Ingalls FTW
Skunk2 is great too. Camber kits are not too bad in price but will still run you into the $100+ mark then the alignment should be about 60 bucks pending on what shop does it
