Default Stock B16 bottom @ 10psi ??

I'm putting together a T3/T4 turbo setup for my del sol, and after adding up the prices i've decided building the bottom end is just too expensive right now, plus this is going to be a street car so about 270whp is all I really want or need at this time.

My cylinder head has been rebuilt with APR head studs, PortFlow valve springs, retainers and GSR cams.

I've done the math with compression ratio verses boost and I came up with 17:1 CR during 10psi. How well does the stock bottom end hold up during these numbers? Can anyone refer me to a EFI tuner in FL that can help me achieve ~270whp reliably?

from my experience if your motor is strong you'll be fine.. I run at 8psi but creep to about 9.5 in the cold weather and my stock b16 has been unreal.. 270 is fun but shoot for 300

17:1 CR?? I don't think you can do a direct calculation like that. 17:1 compression is either a diesel or is running alcohol... But to answer your original question yes you can run 10 psi just get some good fuel management and get it tuned right.

I think by 17:1 he's doing the math like: 24.7psi / 14.7psi * 10.1:1 = 17:1

You don't calculate numbers like that with a boosted motor. Generally speaking, a base 9 to 10:1 is acceptable with a low-boost honda motor.

As for your goals - my friend bought an EF with an SiR motor (bone stock, and is less hp than newer b16's), converted to obd1 w/uberdata. With just a 60trim T3, .63AR exhaust housing, a tial 38mm and an ssauto manifold, it made ~270whp at 10psi.

IMO, if you're going with a stock block, do the sensable thing - use the right sized turbo. None of this "well I might build it later" BS - by the time you get around to a built block, you'll have to recondition the turbo anyways. Quick spool > 20 extra whp. Did I mention you can also add in a 2.5 or 3bar map sensor and crank the T3's boost to 15-18psi?

My setup was:
t3/T04e .54/.63
Inline Pro SS
Tial 38mm
DSM 450's
2.5" Open Down Pipe
Uberdata (tuned only fuel via AFC)

Block and head were completely stock with approx. 80K at install. Ran for almost 2 yrs @ 10 psi which yielded 300 whp. The weak link was the ringlands on the #3 Cylinder.

Good Luck with your bulid, boost is a blast!!!
