Default The best way to clean and restore valve cover appearance

Need some advice on what you would use to clean this.

See Here

I'm in the process of stripping off the paint and repainting. I want the DOHC VTEC and the Honda Logo to not have that crap around the outside of it.

What did you use?

TIA

I'm using aircraft paint remover to strip the paint.

Paint is not the problem.

If you look at the pic where the DOHC and VTEC are located you'll notice around the edges it needs to be cleaned up.

I started using some steel wool and it's working somewhat but I was just wondering what others have had luck with.

wooden block with some 400 grit sandpaper wrapped around it. Keeps everything nice and square. Just sand the letters.

To get the paint off the easiest way was to just spray down the valve cover with Aircraft paint remover. I let it sit for 30 min after spraying it and all you have to do is spray it off with a hose. Very easy. Just don't get the stuff on your bare hands.

If you use aircraft stripper, make sure you do it in the open with lots of air flow, and wear a mask. I had to go to the hospital after stripping the paint off of my valve cover because I had an alergic reaction to the aircraft stripper and turned into a giant hive.

Did you use it in your garage?

I used it outside and just sprayed it on the valve cover until it was completely covered and went inside for 30 minutes. How long did it take for you to get sick?

I did it out on the sidewalk.. I had was scrubbing the valve cover for a good 5 - 10 minutes trying to get every little bit of paint off. My face was pretty much in close proximity to the aircraft stripper the whole time. You should be fine.
