Default Water Leak - Searched; specifics needed. *pics*

okay before you get the urge to call me a noob and use the search button. i already did. the water is located in some weird spots. it's been raining hard for a week now and i had a car cover on and when i went in to check there was about an inch and a half of water collected on the floormat. luckily, i got that water vac'd out. water leaked again today after the rain. now from what i hear it's either bad/ripped weatherstripping around the trunk or bad/ripped/clogged drain tube in the sunroof. i checked both my trunk and my door seals and they seem to have held up pretty good. now im trying to locate the drain tube and it seems like it would be located in the passenger side a pillar? correct me if im wrong. my questions are..

1) if the trunk is leaking, is it possible that it can leak water into the passenger floormats?

2) if it's the drain tube, is it located in the passenger side a pillar?

3) if it's in the a pillar, how do i reach it? do i pry open the panel?

here's the pics.
sorry if some of them are dark.

passenger's side - c pillar

driver's side - window

ceiling - above rear seats/rear window

trunk - below weatherstrip

stupid question.
this is for something like a bike rack right? nothing to do with draining?

those pictures were from about 10 mins ago. this is how i found it a few days back. when i realized there a was a leak. not much common sense needed..

got it vac'd

oh yeah sorry to sidetrack but anyone have any thoughts on this?

my friend's was made out of rubber? mine does not look like rubber. it's chipping now. any takers?

any thoughts/input/advice/past experiences would be awesome.
i apologize for the billion questions.
thanks guys.

- mike

there's a grommet behind the kick panel that leads into the fender. I would check that, it has leaked on me before, but water collected in the front passenger floorboard. I think one sunroof tube drains into that fender too.

thanks.

Check the sunroof too. I've seen water in the floorboard from that. Maybe clogged sunroof drains?

im guessing you haven't read my post since i already said it's probably from the sunroof drain tubes. im asking how do i access it so i can check them out? oh and any other way water could get in thru the trunk area? my weatherstripping seem to be holding up.

I have a minor water leak and am looking for the sun roof drain or whatever as well. As for the weather stripping right under the window, I have the same thing happening to my 97 prelude. We tried tinkering with them to take them off so I could buy replacements, but we couldnt get them off. I remember reading a thread a whiles back on a similar topic. Also, my weather stripping is way worse than yours, probably 30-40% covered with original black paint or whatever it is.

the kick panel is the interior plastic piece, at the floor, between the door and the firewall, like what the fuse box is under on the driver side.
there's a grommet for a wire bundle that goes from the dash, through the fender, and into the door.

once again ppl are missing the point. this is exactly why all the other threads didn't help. yes i figured it was the drain tube from the sunroof. i believe i've already established it. im not tryna be rude or anything but thank you captain obvious for pointing out that it's the drain tubes when it's been covered at least 3 times already. back to the point. i just checked and my rear seats are totally soaked wet. any thoughts on how water could get there? someone from the other thread said there was 4 drain tubes? i thought there were only 2? but if it's 4 then wouldn't the rear ones run down the c pillars? if that's so, could that be a viable source for the water?

just to add one more thing.
i desperately ask of you guys to refrain from restating what has been said and stating the obvious. this is partly why ppl get flamed for posting the same topics. because ppl just restate what the prev. guy says and nothing gets solved. then when other ppl need help with the same thing they are left but with one choice to repost the topic. but seriously thank you to all the other ppl who've been a great help. i really appreciate it.

do what my pops and i did when i had a similar problem: sit inside the car while someone sprays a hose over your entire car. see if you can find the leak.

holy crap man that's alot of water on your floor board....Pop your trunk and look at your spare tire to see how much water is sitting back there. If you have that much just inside your car, you must have damn near a pond in hte trunk itself

yeah i forgot to mention the trunk. i popped open the trunk and everything was moist. i take out the spare tire compartment and bam my tire is like swimmin in water. i read your other post about the drain plugs [thanks] so i popped one of them suckers out and it started draining.. on my shoe.. haha damn but least i got it out. my weatherstripping doesn't seem to be bad around the trunk. any other ways it could have gotten into my trunk? man my car is one high maintenance queen.. first the motor now this. thank guys.

you responded in your rant to me... that makes me sad.

based on the trunk full of water, and looking at the pictures closer, that looks like water is running down from the roof. that grommet I mentioned would only account for the floor getting soaked. here's a link to the drain tubes but I don't remember where the tube ends (only 2 are shown). You may need to run the water on your car to find the tubes, and I'd guess the one you're looking for is the rear passenger.

the only other thing I can think of for the trunk leak is the taillights may not be sealed.

There are 2 x drain tubes, one on the front passenger side runs down the pillar and drains out at rear of wheelarch, the rear drain tube runs down the drivers side rear pillar and behind the lining of the trunk and exits the car under the trunk. You have to remove the trunk lining to get to it making sure it's not blocked, there are drain valves on the ends of the tubes make sure it's all clear.

thanks guys. that really cleared up a ton. i'll check that out tmro. couldn't test out the hose thing today. my hose has a big oh tear. too big for patching up. why does everything seem like they're breakdowning these days. what luck. now for the trunk. aside from what jagan mentioned, does anyone else have any ideas where the water could be coming from? thanks guys.
