Cracked injectors, can I fix?
I pulled my injectors to put in my replacement motor, and to my dismay, two of them were cracked. One has minor hairline cracks, but the other is pretty severe. The motor ran when I pulled it, so could I fix these injectors?
Here's two pics of the bad one:
Here's the one that's not so bad:
Am I buying two new injectors, or can I superglue these? Is the plastic part even necessary? I'm getting really low on funds and I need a running car!

You need the plastic part it helps direct the fuel. I would not super glue as the fuel is just going to tear it up again. You maybe able to get new nozzles but I would look into finding some new/used ones. Sorry for the bad news.
wow, kinda surprised you didn't have fuel all over, but yea...those aren't woth the repair..you MAY be able to use the plastic sleeves from other injectors, if you're on a tight budget just go to a junkyard and pull them off of another honda or something...good luck..

I think more than anything, the plastic is there to protect
the inner valve if it is dropped..
I have two that were like that in my B16 and it runs fine...
It bugged the hell out of me that they were broken
but to be honest I don't think it had that much effect..
PS:The pintle caps don't appear to be removable...

i dont think the super glue would be a problem, one it polymerizes, its pretty much resistant to any non polar solvent (gas)

I was under the impression that this is what they were for. Mainly to protect the valve when they are not installed in a manifold. I pulled two injectors out of my d16z6 that looked like this, and it had been running fine.

do not replace those.
pull the plastic off and put them back in. all they are for is protection from dropping, they do not direct the fuel in any way.
when removed DONT drop them, it will bend the pintle pin and expletive them forever..
i love it when people just decide to make up their own theory on a part they know nothing about..

so the general consensus is that its not good to superglue them? It seems like it's a bad idea since if it were to break off, it would fly into my head/motor/breakeverything, hehe.
It's just a protector there are not needed, just be careful when re-installing them back in that you don't hit the center needle sticking out.
Also, honda injectors spray like a squirt gun, they don't fan out just so everyone knows.

the injectors will work just fine. pull the broken caps off and reinstall then in the motor. 2 of my DSM 450s are missing the caps and my motor has been running fine for 2 years like that

OK, for those running without pintle caps:
Is it ok to leave a little bit of the plastic material behind? The cap that was very damaged came off cleanly but the other one has a ring of material at the very bottom that I can't get to come out with my hobby knife. I put the injectors in but I can pull them to clean the rest of it off somehow if it is absolutely necessary. I'd hate to have a piece of plastic sucked into my motor.
