IACV question...
I need to convert my 3-wire IACV (2000 civic cx, d16y7) to a 2-wire IACV to run an obd1 ecu. Can I just buy one of the 2-wire IACV plugs that go for around $10? Will this work?
are you chaning the manifold or are you using the cx manifold..cause the cx manifold had the iac built on the manifold and the ex manifold has a whole different iacv..ex 2 wire cx 3 wire

I would think this would be an easy question for the honda-tech gods...
I am converting my bone stock 2000 civic Cx (d16y7) to obd1. I need a 2 wire IACV instead of the 3 wire IACV I currently have. Would switching the plug to a 2 wire plug work or will I need to swap out my mani?
Thanks guys

what would be the point to change it to 2 wire when the iacv is still going to be a 3 wire connection? U will need a 2 wire iacv, and that wont fit on the cx manifold. So to do this conversion, u will need to get something like a y8 manifold and iacv to make it work. u should be able to re-use the cx throttle body with a y8 manifold. Why are u changing to obd 1 anyways?
I am changing to obd1 for tuning purposes. I just want to figure out EVERYTHING I need to do before actually turboing my car and spending more money than I need to. Thanks for the answer
Anyone else have a suggestion? Is changing my intake mani the only way to be able to use an obd1 ecu? I've been hearing mixed answer..

not sure on the IM but if you are to get a jumper harness i think you should be using the obd2B to obd1
obd2A 96-98
obd2B 99-00

u dont need to have a 2 wire iacv to run an obd1 ecu ..just as long as ur using a non vtec ecu on your non vtec motor you jumper harness should be plug and play
The 3 wire AIC has a position sensor and can partially open, the 2 wire sensor is open or closed (nothing in between).
You can use an OBD1 ecu that is 2 wire control (just cut the orange wire), BUT the idle will go very high when IAC is commanded open.
I have installed several complete OBD2 single cam motors into ef/eg customer cars and left the 3 wire IAC.
You can remove the throttle body and the port that supplies air to the IAC can be welded shut (i.e. plugged) and redrilled to a much smaller orfice size. By doing this you can tune the amount of air that the IAC lets in to be similiar to that of a standard 2 wire IAC manifold.
And this way you can do it for FREE.....then you can send me the $$$$ you would have paid for the new manifold and IAC you were gonna buy. i gotta eat......
