I don't understand why you would need a vacuum hose for the IACV. Are you considering getting this manifold?

It looks like they use a hose instead of having the duct running through the IM to the IACV like the stock ones. You know that port in the TB that goes to the IACV? That's what it looks like. I could be waaaaay off though .

i dont even have that line anymore....the 1 under the TB. got an edelbrock ITR throttlebody which doesnt have 1. car runs fine, even with a chipped ecu. only thing "wrong" is that when the engine is cold or hasnt ran, in the first few minutes, the idle will drop to 750rpm from the "chip" set 900rpm idle. other than that i dont even notice a difference.

You are probably right. I guess OBX did it in an easier design, however it might not be better.

Which having an IACV would solve, so obviously it's not that big of a deal. And I agree that their design might probably be inferior to the built-in duct.

i was trying to find a nice intake manifold for a d series and all i could find was this obx but its chrome and seems pretty crappy

but its only like $120, compared to edelbrock or skunk2, is there any other brands?

i would try to buy a used jg or skunk first, that looks like a pos, i bet the ports dont even match up that well. I aslo her there can be gains by using a z6 or y8, im not a d dude so im not 100% sure.

A friend of mine, friend HAD that manifold on his z6 and it ran like a POS. Eventually he got rid of it and the car pulled a lot stronger with a stock z6 manifold.

I have a friend who dynoed his D16Y7 with one of these OBX manifolds and a regular MPFI type manifold. The OBX manifold made less horsepower throughout the rpm range, on average about 2~3 less hp. Just goes to show how bad of a design it is.

To the OP, if you are on a budget, look for a D16Y8 manifold. If you can spend a little more, look for a used Skunk2 or Edelbrock manifold.
