1991 civic starting problems
I have a 1991 honda civic with a b16a swap. From time to time before the swap the car did not like to start after driving it for a while or if it sat out in the sun. Recently it started to do it more frequently and over the past week it now will not start at all. When I turn the key nothing happens, this is the same as before but usually if i were to push start the car and pop it into gear I would be able to drive it and the problem would go away. Now i do that and it still won't start after I turn the car off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Im no genius, but my boy that has the same swap was having the same problem, the starter went out.BUT, it could be anything on your car, I would take out the starter and alternator and get them tested and check all your fuses.Theres more but everyone else will throw something out there for ya.
The starter and altenator are all both relatively new. The motor does not crank out all. When I turn the key it does absolutley nothing. My volt meter drops to zero and the lights dim and thats about it when I turn the key. The battery is brand new also and has a full charge. I have heard somethings that it might be the main relay, the starter relay, or the clutch interlock switch. I would like some information first before I go spending money on replacing all of these things. Where is the starter relay located on a 91 honda civic.

What does your volt meter read before you try to start the car ?
Also dont put all your faith in "new" parts. That new altinator could last a day or ten years. Its a crap shoot with reman parts.

the main relay is located off the left handside of the fuse box under the dash, its a little black looking box the is held on by a bolt.I'm not good at explaining things, so if this wasnt good sorry, all hondas and Acuras have them in the same place I believe.Your going to have to open it up and look at the circuits, but a similar situation was happening on one of our Integras and it was the wiring coming off the distributar, who ever did it half *** so it had to be re done. Check that too.
Before cranking the volt meter reads around 12 or so. I am about to test and see if I can start the car by what the civic service manual says to do by bypassing the ignition switch and connecting the positive terminal to the solenoid terminal to help to see what it is. I will let you guys know what happens. Of course the car will be in neutral.
