Default Scrapped DC 4-1 *PICS* will it affect performance?

Hey guys, I'm about to buy this 4-1 dc header for my gs-r. It's scrapped in the bottom. My question is, will it affect the performance of the header? If so how much? Also what can I do fix this scrape? Can i use some short of coating to prevent it from rusting? I was thinking of wet sanding it and recoating it with high temp coating. Anyone with experience or expertise please help!!! THANKS H-T!

BTW, the header is for 50 bones.

cant do much to fix it but it will only affect flow just a little. and unless u have a super high hp motor in which case u wouldnt be running a dc header so go for it 50 bones is a steal

I would get some good exhaust tape and tape it up.

I'd get it for 50.00. But hopefully your car isn't lower than his was.

I would just save your money for now. The standard DC 4-1 is not a particularly great upgrade to begin with, and one with two dented primaries will just be that much less so.

My stock manifold is making the infamous rattling sound, that's the main reason why i want a header. I care mostly about durability, cost, and smog. Performance wise I'm not TOO concerned bout

My DC looks exactly like that, if not worse. Its held up for over a year in that condition without looking worse and i passed our smog up here. As long as performance doesn't matter to ya, i'd offer him $40

yep i'd say take it if ur not too concerned bout the performance, my buddy had one identical to this one on his Si, same damage and figured nothing was wrong til he was told by an exhaust shop to scrap it.. we then put my stock gsR header on and he sid there was a big difference in power. Basicly any lil damage to the header is gonna cause performance loss

I put a JDM ITR header and test pipe on my GSR. With that being the only mods, I picked up 4 MPH in the 1/4. I have the SAME dents as the DC is question.

I gained power. I may not be makin what I woudl if the header was new, but I"m happy for now.

so you're saying a stock gsr exhaust manifold felt a lot faster then the scrapped up dc 4-1 header?

My car still made 170WHP with the same damage. (type R cams and Short Ram)

$50 is cheap, why not. I sold mine for $150

Take the header to a motorcycle shop. They can raise those dents with a torch, hammer, and air pressure.

my header has about the same damage but i dont care, and dont plan to buy a good one because i will just scrape it on the ground anyways

what bad things have you heard?

there are people who have had bad experiences with every brand of part

I have had a ceramic 4-2-1 piece DC headers on my vehicle that has been being used for 4+ years and it has never had a problem
