Default p28 help

ok so i have a 98 lude and im gonna finally get my tranny swap done. im doing it at this place call Asaa Racing, tehy said that a when swapping it all out, tehy recomend a chipped p28 ecu to replace the old auto ecu, is this the right way to go? and if it is, does it need to be tuned, i know you guys have way more knowledge or experience with suff like this. i jus want my car to be a 5spd. and im only planning to go as far as ~200whp range with teh engine im not planning any forced induction. thnx

If they have a dyno and the means to tune a Honda ECU. Never heard of ASAA, but I just started looking for tuners in Houston. I've been pointed towards Jason at St00pid Fast. Haven't contacted them yet though. No website yet but here is their location http://www.stoopid-fast.com/
Where's ASAA?

If all you want to do is 5spd swap and bolt ons... just get a stock manual ecu... the ECU number slips my mind right now... If you're not planning to do any major mods you don't REALLY need to be able to tune. Not that thte option would be bad, but you'll end up spending more money for just 200hp

IMHO

I went from a p13 to a chipped p28 i love it but you will prollt need a Vafc because you bneed to set the vtec diff and the air fuel but after that you will be happy

if you GO with a p28 just get it tuned, getting a chipped p28 and then running a vafc is kinda moot if you ask me

why would you go to a p28 and run a VAFC?

read the faq. There is a thread in there that discusses ECU choice. And no, im not goign to link you to it because you need to learn how to use the faq for yourself.

P28s are OBDI, i have a chipped tuned with crome p28 and a vafc. I dont have an oil presssure sensor and had a vafc in hand, so it just sends the signal to the ecu. I ran a chipped p28 for a while untuned, the person that chipped it put a h22 basemap on it. After about 2 months i finally got it tuned, i had a way smoother power band and loved it that much more. So get it tuned if you have the money for it right now, but if you dont, have them chip it with an h22 basemap.
