removed p/s help!
i have a 97 integra ls and i removed my power steering a while back and i know i need shocks and i know there is a difference between the manual steering racks and the p/s racks. but it feels like my steering almost needs dampers or something like you can purchase for street bikes but does anyone know a car with a manual steering rack that will fit my car kuz all integras that i know of come with it? also could the really loose and jolty steering wheel feel come from bad shocks?
The steering rack has nothing to do with your shocks, and vice versa. What sort of feeling are you getting from your steering wheel that you feel like it needs a damper of its own? What do you mean by loose and jolty? You turn the wheel and the car does not respond?
no it responds fine but like if i go over a bumpy surface at low speeds such my driveway the steering wheel not only moves but like yanks really bad if i let go id be off the road in a second. also when at highway speeds its very easy to turn the steering wheel which is no problem but if i go over a sizeable bump it will also yank really hard
actually i just got my car aligned like two or three days ago but they coulld only adjust the toe because hondas dont have adjustable suspension pieces for camber and caster. what is bumpsteer?
That is fine, it is the toe that would be causing this problem. Bumpsteer is what happens when your suspension hits a bump and compresses (or otherwise travels up and down), and the tire toeing out/in due and therefore pulling the car in the direction that the tire is pointing, due to the improper angles that your suspension linkages are set at as a result of (usually) lowering the car a lot. Its an undesirable effect for our cars.
hmm it seemed better after i got the toe adjusted but its stil not like secure feeling. a friend mentioned that my shocks were shot and i believe it the ride is hell. they are ground control coilovers which still lowers the vehicle i guess but they are all the way up
