Default 400 whp question log mani and sc61 turbo

here is the motor set up

B20 GE 84mm block
9:1 JE pistons
Eagle rods
stock gsr head and cams

im looking to make 400whp on this motor set-up. after spending way more than i thought i did, i no longer get to buy the baller turbo parts i wanted. im forced to go with a log manifold from spoolin performance . what till spool be like with a sc61 turbo attached to it? what size intercooler piping should i use? is it possible to make the 400 whp goal i have? any helpful input would be appreciated.


im not looking for the be patient and buy a better manifold answer. ive been into this build for quite some time now and im almost out of funds. if i can make this hp goal ive set for myself with a log mani than thats what its going to be

im sure you can reach your goal. log manifolds are just less efficient than equal length, so just turn the boost up until you reach your goal. looks like you have a bottom end ready to handle it.

just for example, mat keller was making something like 600whp on a t4 inlinepro cast mani

i dont see why not. MIKE on g2ic.com made 450whp on a braced ssac manifold.

i have an sc61 on the t3 inline pro manifold and see 18psi by around 4500~5000. And i know that i am definetly around the 400~420whp mark so i think that you should definetly be able to reach your goals with that turbo and manifold.
Also, my set-up as far as the motor is the exact same as yours.

you can reach your goal , but like the other poster said it wont be *** efficent.

you should definitly look into getting a equal length down the road to improve efficency and spool times

the log will work fine.. for IC piping use 2.5", you can use normal carbon steel if you want just heavier, dosent have to be alumn.

yea i plan on getting a equal length mani eventually but like i said this build is takeing too long and im getting impatient. i had plans for a ballerific build but im only looking for 400whp and a 10sec timeslip in my gutted EF. but if a log will work for now then a log it is

it will not be *** efficient (it will take more boost) but you should actually see slightly better spool times with the log.

i made 500hp with an sc61 on a inline t3 manifold @25psi last year.

Do it right the first time and get a ramhorn, you will probably swapped out for one later on anyway. You dont have to go out and but a full-race manfiold, there is plenty good quality one for about 600.

I currently have a log on mine and wished i had gone with a ramhorn in the beginning, which i have to buy now

Edit, the ramhorn will also make better power in the mid-top end also

Check that out, our log manifold on a stock gsr block made 300hp ( ok 296 ) with a t3/to4e 57 trim turbo at 7psi. I have no doubt in my mind that 400hp is achievable with a log manifold.

well IMO i get the feeling that the OP is worried about spool times, yes it can be done with log but equal will be more efficent in spool times. but if it works it works so go with it.

unless you are real worried it might make your car less efficent as it could be

i know i can make the power i want but i really dont want alot of lag. i thought a log would provide faster spool

Whats the a/r and trim of that turbo.

The t3/t4 turbo we had, was a 57 trim and it kicked in about 4,000 rpms

Hey, man... Log style mani's work great.. My Sc61 2.0L ls/vtec made like 315 at 10psi.. 400whp and 15psi on pump gas. 22psi it made 548whp.. those turbo's really start to shine after 14-15psi...

you guys keep comparing apples to oranges. the inline pro is not near as inefficient as a log mani. The inline pro, revhard, drag, etc are cast tubular manifolds. The log manifold...is well...a log manifold. The inline pro piece is actually very efficient for its simplistic design. That is because the runners are closer to equal length than the others mentioned above. But to answer the original question, you should not have to much of a problem making 400 plus with the right tune.....hopefully you saved a bit of the build up loot for that.

A/R's of .48 or .63. SC61 comes with the GT wheel with a 2.795" inducer and 2.437" exducer (76 trim).

Is that the specs of it ? I would assume the turbo fully spools around 5 to 6rpms

His new car made 800++++ WHP on an inlinepro log. Might even be over 900 WHP.

I'm not arguing here, I totally agree, but that car also is in a class of its own and should not be really even brought up in this thread.
