vice grips but dont grip it too hard then pull them out. use a 10 or 12mm socket to push the new one back on

awesome i thought i would have to pay a machine shop to do this-

should the new seals be dry when installed or lightly oiled?

ok i just tried to pull them out but i cant get it...

am i only supposed to grab onto the little rubber part or is that whole metal sleeve the seal? I assumed the metal sleeve was the guide so i was just yanking on the little rubber part but there is so little material to grab onto i just keep ripping little pieces off..

am i pulling on the right part? im pulling on it from the camshaft side not the cylinder side

i really recommend using needle nose vice grips if you arnt using them. put the vice grip on the metal sleeve. below is a pic what the valve seal looks like. once you have the vice grip on it. just rock the vice grip back and forth while pulling up. if it slips make the vice a little tighter til it doesnt

Vice grips work prety good. Just make sure that you dont tighten them too much or else youll make things alot harder on yourself. Ive found that if you can get them to twist itll make it alot easier to pull them off. After that its pretty simple. I have a special tool to install them with that makes it really easy, but its not necessary. I used to use an 11mm deep well socket with a 3" extension. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap on the end of the extension until the seal is all the way down. You dont have to do it this way but ive found that its a little easier. I usually dip my finger in oil and moisten the seal before i put them on. Sometimes i put a little on the guide as well to help the seals slide on. Good luck man
