Default Element question

I own a 2004 element with about 33,000 miles and the maint. req'd light just came on. Also it just started to idle at about 1500 rpm. Is this normal. Are there any tsb's on this subject? Any info would be appreciated.

the maintenance light is just triggered every 10k miles for you. (30k mile service is due: change oil, trans fluid, rotate tires, change engine and cabin air filters)
But the high idle is normal after you juststart it in cold weather if it keeps that high idle even after it has warmed up then you need to take it in and have it checked

I understand the 30k service thing. I haven't got that done yet. But it still idles high after if drive it to work which is about 15 minutes. Plus I live in San Diego and the avg morning temp is right around 55 degrees this time of year. Any thoughts on the cause of the high idle? Thanks.

not sure on this but sounds like an IAC (idle air control) problem, needs to be adjusted. not sure how to do it though.

Yes the check engine light is on. What does the IAC do and can it be adjusted by a regular schmo like me?

it can't be adjusted. take it to autozone and get the "P (P____)" code then post it here.
