Default B16 Bog Issue (Read Please)---------

Whats wrong.

The car is NOT throwing any type of code.

I star the car and go to press the gas and the car bogs, if i press the gas slow the car will not bog at all. The car can be cold and hot and do the same thing. This a b16 with a gsr head thats been running for over 2 years now. I can remove the ?map sensor? (sensor on the top of the throttle body) and the car idles up higher but when I hit the gas it does not bog at all.

Things I have checked/changed

The whole dizzy

plug wires

plugs

checked timing and timing belt (in time)

exhaust (clear)

changed out ecu's

ecu wiring

checked all 4 injectors along with wiring

checked fuses (along with backus fuse)

ANY help at all would be great.

Things I am going to do in the morning

Check ecu wiring again

change fuel filter

MAP sensors are made of steel but yours may be bad, check the voltage to the computer, use a digital volt meter, just backprobe the connector. You may end up having to get the scanner hooked up to it and see what the O2 sensor is doing also, let us know.

I agree. Check the MAP, and O2 sensors don't always throw a code.

hey,

i used to have a 1.6lsi coupe.

the engine manament light came up on it so i took it to that garage, they said it was the oxygen sensor on the manifold.

the car was running like a bag. really slow (even slower than usual) n really guttless. i changed the sensor n now its back to normal. it was throwing everything out. idling really low like 400rpm n took forEVER to build any power at all.

have you checked the oxygen sensor?

There is a few, the white sensor is the Air Intake Temp Sensor.

Have you checked the physical timing? Maybe a belt jumped a tooth? Does it drive normal other than the bog down low?

timing is correct. the car will not drive good at all. if u hit the gas it will bog and some times when u hold the gas down it will die.

sounds like a lack of fuel.. check ur fuel pressure.. maybe its getting stuck at the fuel rail.. someone i know did a swap and tried to use the sohc fuel line and it was installed wrong and the fuel was way to much pressure do to the line. so check the hole on the fuel line..

So you think its the tps? I did try to adjust the tps and it started to idle SUPER SUPER HIGH.. maybe the guts are messed up on the inside of it? What I did not tell you guys is this was a garage qween eg that had about a total of 300 miles drove on it over a 2 year time.. Now I sold it to a kid that its his daily driver...

Unplug the TPS. As long as the MAP is still working the car will still run and should run fine other than a high idle.

Why do you think the idle went up, you MOVED it, you told the computer you were engaging the throttle, it has to be set up at a specific voltage signal back to the computer, you need to buy a manual.

What OBD version are you running? When you unplug ANY sensor you should instantly set a CEL. So i'm wondering why you're not getting one when unplugging the map sensor.

It may take two drive cycles to turn on the light MAYBE, but the car will fun in limp home mode with it disconnected, did you unplug it or remove it from its vacuum source (or manifold)????

it will not take 2 drive cycles to turn on the light because if a sensor is disconnected, the comprehensive component monitor picks that up and instantly illuminates the light
