Default loss of power at 5k rpm

i don't know what the problem is but the rpm will go up fast but at 5 they slow down..a friend/mechanic told me it could be the fuel filter? does anyone know about this? i'll change the fuel filter no problem but if it's not that then what is it? i'll update when i change it.

hmmm--when they slow down do you feel your car bogging at all? Or, do the revs simply slow down--usually bogging of any kind at higher revs is like plugs, wires, cap and rotor--I would check those things out firstly.

you're right, i had bogging before thru all rpm and the slow down at 5 but i changed my wires and it stopped bogging, so it's something else. thanks

well its a d16y8 with the factory hf ecu, i guess its the d15 obd0, i dont know if it was a manual or auto, and the exhaust is greddy(no cat), i thought maybe the exhaust is too good for the weak motor, i dont know much about that though.

it is a D16Y8 VTEC engine - is this correct?
you are using the stock CRX HF OBD0 ECU - is this correct?
if those things are correct, you have the wrong ECU to run that engine - you would have no VTEC which would make the Y8 pretty weak in upper rpm - the HF ECU is set-up for an engine which made max power at 4500rpm and has fuel cut-off at 5500rpm - not a good combination
