fuel guage question
what is in the tank that tells the gauge how much is in the tank... is it like a floater or something else. and is there anything i do to make mine more accurate and not so slow?
It is a float on a metal rod that drags against a winding that changes the resistance.
If the system was set up different you would have the fuel gauge swinging every time you went around a corner or stepped on the brakes.
What makes you think your sending unit is not accurate?

cus my light comes on at different times or not at all. i've run out of gas before the light has come on, and sometimes it will come on before the e, between the last bar and the e. and when p_adams was around he told me about the reason why if you slam on your brakes or stop on a downhill incline your gas gauge goes off for awhile, but its just annoying to me.
and if you can see in my avitar thing, my needle is almost as far down as it can go and i still get like another 30-45 miles before the light comes on and i absoultely have to fill up
