That's about what I'm getting as well.

If by skip gears you mean go from say 2nd to 4th in one shift. No.
The reason my gas mileage was so good the first couple weeks was because i was getting used to the bike. I hardly ever went over 6000rpms. Once i got used to it, i hardly went under 5000 rpms. So, my mileage suffered. But damnit if i didn't have fun.
Now with the RC no matter how i ride it's hard to keep the mileage above 35.

45 mpg? Must be nice. I'm happy if I get 30.

i guess 600s avg around 40mpg. kinda off topic but, what octane level gas do you guys put in? the manual said 86 or above, so i filled up my bike about 4 times with just 87. should i just put in the 91 octane?

absolutely not. 87 is what will get you the best performance/economy out of your bike.
Go with what the manual recommends.

put in 87...the lower the octane the faster the gas burns which creates more power. technically its best to put in the lowest octane possible without your bike/car knocking.

Liter twins, you mean.
RJ and I went on a 175 mile yesterday and we both filled up when we left. We had to stop halfway so he'd have enough gas to get home and even though I didn't get any I made it without my light coming on.

Right-o. Liter vtwins. Mini-vtwins are a lot more femi...errr...fuel efficient.

Yea, it's not terribly bad. But my friend's got an SV with alot of mods done to it, and it makes me hot.
It definitely doesn't have the straight line acceleration of the RC, but once you get in to some corners, it doesn't really matter. SVs are great bikes. I just wish i wasn't such a sucker for Hondas.

Visually, it makes you hot? What mods does he have done to it? Got any pics?

I'm averaging 40mpg on my RC, looks like I granny ride it.
