Squeaky steering....

Default Squeaky steering....

I was driving one day and I started to turn and it made a really high pitch squeaking noise from the front....while at a stop I turn the wheel side to side, the squeak is there...when I jack up the car the sound isn't there anymore...???the car is a '93 GSR...I have no idea what the hell it is....help me thanks.

Maybe the steering rack is moving a little bit. And the squeak you hear is it rubbing the rubber bushings.

Just a guess.

The problem is most likely that one or both ball joints are worn. i had this exact same problem on my 92 Si, and that is what it turned out to be.

it could be something stupid that happened to me if the cotter pins are in at a funny angle on the lower ball joint they rub the brake sheilds on lowered cars which causes a noise the best way to check is to look for a scratch on the sheids
