Default What kind of damage does over revving cause

I installed a sohc zc motor in my girlfriends car. She just started driving it and isn't use to it. I relized when I installed it that it had no rev limiter. I changed out the ecu three times with others but all the same. Anyways she was driving it and revved it up to 8000 rpms. It still drives fine but I was worried. Now it kind of hesitates at first acceleration. Is there something messed up. The compression is still good.

my EDM EF with DOHC ZC, ZC box and ZC ecu redlines at about 7500-8000rpm. think its a soft cut limiter as sometimes it will hit 8k and others it wont. usually with wheelspin it hits about 8k.

8000 is a bit much, but nothing really to be too worried about. Just don't do that ish too often. Valves don't like being slammed back like that.

probbly fine just stop doing it, it'll weaken the valve train over heat things, its a bad thing.

Stop letting her drive it if she doesn't have the common sense to know when to shift. Sorry but facts are facts.
