I was told Honda-tech had all the experts
Yet all my posts and those other people I know have made have gone unanswered. Are you guys just too lazy to answer noob questions or is there really not much knowledge on EF8s in this forum?
I have an EF8 CRX with the b16a and Y1 transmission and I've been looking for an LSD that I could install with minimal modifications, but I haven't found anything. What are the options?
Feel free to answer any of my other posts too

I'm no expert but I guess you could get an LSD trans or install an aftermarket LSD inside your tranny. I've heard OBX makes one.
Quite a few companies make them for the B16. You say "minimal modification"-- not sure what you mean by that. With any of the LSD units you will have to crack open the trans to get to the diff. It's not a modification per se, but it is intrusive surgery to the car's driveline.
What kind of LSD you want is dependent on what you'll be doing with the car. Drag? Autocross? Daily driver? Track car?

we aint all rich
OBX is actually not a bad differential, however it does have to be disassembled and have minor modification done to it before you install it, or you will have problems. Other than that you can go with JDM B16 lsd cable tranny

At this stage I'm looking at cracking the tranny open anyway to replace a couple of synchros.
What would have a better cost:benefit ratio: rebuilding the transmission and adding an LSD or upgrading to an ITR LSD transmission?
Would the DC2 5 Speed hydro transmission fit without custom fabrication (if I get a cable to hydro kit) or would this be a complicated swap?

hahaha well let's just say that the Australian forums don't have a great deal of knowledge specifc to the technical side of CR-Xs... so you guys are geniouses comparatively

Tim, you're a smart man! I was going to ask you how you were able to say "****" without the word "expletive" being put in its place, but I see now. hahahahahaha. Brilliant!

haha So ultimately, what would be the best option?
1. Rebuild b16a gearbox and add aftermarket LSD
2. Replace transmission with DC2 5 speed LSD and try and work out the hydro-cable conversion issue
3. Source the rare b series cable LSD transmission and do a complete swap without the cable-hydro

you need to learn how to search and not be an uppity noob.
cable trannies with lsd's are not rare. call a california importer.
if you go hydro then you get the lsd and a newer tranny overall, but thats MONEY right there.
cable to hyrbo conversion + the tranny itself.
the best of all is the 92-93 cable tranny with the larger housing that can accept the hydro gearsets which are much easier to source.
again, searching would have yielded all the responses i just gave. there are some pretty knowledgeable guys on here, but they spend more time working on their own cars then hitting that red word in the upper right hand corner of this site for people who are too lazy to do it themselves.
welcome i guess?

well, for what its worth, ive read that obx diffs are not worth the money. like a couple people above said, go with a quaife and dont look back. the old saying, you get what you pay for, applies to limited slip differentials especially. the modification you have to do to fit the diff in involves cutting some webbing on the inside of the transmission case.
swapping it for a trans with a lsd is a good idea, especially if you can get a hydro trans and conversion.. but for that price, you might as well put an lsd in your current trans. either way, save your money so you only have to install it once.
