I am trying to get the screw out to empty my oil and I can't get it to loosen. What can I do?

had the same problem last week. The threads on the bold has been stripped. What you're going to have to do is get a whole new pan and gaskets. It'll run you about $200. You need to take off the down pipe and then take off the 18 bolts on the pan in place. But before you do that, you need to empty the tank. A simple drill will be enough power to eat throught the metal and drain the pan.

or, I think you can buy some sort of socket, or something like those gator grips or something to hold it and get it off. try that first, if it doesn't work, then you might have to do what Lilboi said....

Why would you need to replace the entire pan?

If indeed the threads have been stripped, I'd suggest getting the pan off and going to a machine shop to see what they can do. They can probably repair the threads on the pan, and then just pick up a new bolt.

Nah nah foo, ay0 check dis whatchu needs to do foh realz is buy a new whip. Dat's guaranteed tuh fix all y0 problemz.

LOL wtf are you talking about man. Just get some WD40 and a socket set. I believe it's a 10mm bolt, and I've never seen a bolt strip, or round to the point where even a socket set won't get it. Try that and when your done you might also want to invest in a new bolt.

Also, and I know this will suck, but drive the car around till it gets to operating temps..then get and a break it loose. Come back later and drain it when its cool down.

Drill a new hole in the pan and weld a bung on it. It will also stop thieves from stealing your oil. Ha ha just get a set of bolt extractors like has been already mentioned at Sears.
