timing with TILTON clutch
hello everyone, i have a problem on my hands,
i have installed a tirlon twin disc clutch.... BUT.... i cant seem to time the motor, all you H22 fans know that you have to pull the bung on the gearbox housing to see the flywheel, well the tilton flywheel sits way far back and you cant really see it, o know there are timing marks on it cause i saw them when i looked at the flywheel! so HELP!!!!!!

Mark the crank pulley at TDC on compression stroke #1 cylinder. Then mark the timing belt cover so it lines up with the mark you made on the pulley.
Then use a adjustable timing gun.

Line up the timing belt like so:

put the lower timing cover and crank pulley on. Draw a line from the crank pulley (white out works good) to the timing cover. That is your new timing mark.

They have a adjustable and non-adjustable. Adjustable means you can change the timing degrees with a **** or button(s).

I love Preludes. You cant even adjust the distributor either. It actually says to replace the ECU in the Honda service manual if the timing is off. lol

just to let people know i timed the motor with the marks on my cam gears, it worked alot easier than marking the crank pulley...
thanks to all those who gave advice

thats b/c the crank pickup isnt inside the distributor, its on the end of the crank.
you can use the marks on the cam gears, get a dial back light, set it to what your computer says for timing and the 2 lines should match up perfectly.

spot on! im running AEM ems, so i set my timing on 15 degree's, got the timing guy out, must be ajustable. sync both AEM and the timing gun readings....... Job done! Never actually had to move the dizzy at all! just tell the aem what timing the motor is

the only problem you are gonna have with marking just a white mark is the timing is not set @TDC(white mark it is set @BTDC red mark.
no, i set the motor at TDC on cyclinder 1 first, checked it with the oil pump gear mark (behind the crank pulley) then i marked the cam gears up.
does this make more sense? or have i done it wrong then?

*backhand*
just cut the valve cover and use the TDC mark.
set your timing gun (hopefully it's adjustable aka 'dial-back') to the timing you want and aim the gun at the cam gears.
this is what I do because the manifold I built blocks the timing hole.
