open deck or closed deck h22
i am soon going to purchase an h22 motor and not exactly sure which one. i want to get it sleeved and i heard that the closed deck block is more expensive than the open deck block because it is much harder. is this true? hos about the prices? how much is normal to pay to have sleeves repaced on a block with sleeves of my choice? im thinking of darton but not sure. please tell me all comments opinions and everything. thanks
If you are going to sleeve it anyway, go ahead and get the open deck motor. They are the newer versions that tend to be in a little better shape anyway.
Or look for a good deal on a blown motor, might get you some cool bonus goodies in the process

if you are going to sleeve it anyway, then it does not matter if it is newer or older.

on that note, if you went for a newer block you would have some interesting crankshaft options if you were in to that kind of thing...

True, but once you sleeve it you can easily get a semi-closed deck. That will run all the boost you want.

I would go with a closed deck block for added stregnth . As far as price for sleeving a open or closed deck block , It's all the same no added price for either platform. The only difference is in the compression. Jdm motors (closed deck) is higher . I've also heard the debate about cooling issues with closed/open platforms and thats b.s. as well. Go with the added security knowing that the closed deck sleeves have no room to move.
