wassup guys lately ive been having to jump start my car to get it running during the day but at night it will start no problem. so b4 i go out and buy a new alternator or battery what are some ways to check the battery and the alternator to see which one is going bad. the battery looks kinda old but iono looks can be deceiving. so yea if anyone can help me out that would be great. and if anyone thinks its not either of those please let me know. and just for refrence iono if it matters but i have a 91 integra with 94 ls swap
Generally the car will stall out when running if the alternator is bad....if its just starting problems, then its the battery. That or you can take it to autozone and they'll run a test on it for joo.
easy way to check is start ur car and disconnect ur negative battery cable if car dies then alternator is bad if it runs then u need a new battery
Get yourself a cheap voltage meter...while the car is running connect the clips to the positive and negative posts of your battery if you don't see at least 13.5 volts or so your alt is bad.
However if the problem is during the day only it might be something else....I am going to try and find some more details as I had the same problem a while back....

Replacing Main Fuel Relay.
Engine cranks but does not turn over in hot weather? You may need to replace your Main Fuel Relay (FI).
You need to take off the knee panel of both driver and passenger side, then the center console. You will have to take off the metal panel behind the driver side knee panel as well. Right under the cluster you will see 2 relays, a smaller relay in the front and a bigger one in the back mounted together. The FI main relay is the bigger one in the back. Unplug it and put the new one on.

The main fuel relay is located behind the driver's side knee panel.
Using a flat head screwdriver you can pry the circuit board from the plastic covering by pushing on the two tabs on the side.
Unplug the wire harness.
Pop out the new one and plug it back into place.

oh ok so it could be the main fuel relay? and ima go do the unplugging of the battery while running so hopefully its not the alternator cuz that cost 200 bucks!!!
ok so i just got back from doing the test where u take off the neg. battery terminal to see if it dies out and so it doesnt. and the car started up fine and its 6p.m. so i guess its the battery. and if it doesnt start tommorow while its hot than ima get me a main fuel relay. how much do those typically cost anyways?

if you turn the key and all you hear is CLICK then its not the main fuel relay and most likely the battery.
If the alternator was bad then it wouldn't run all day. Battery starts the car, alternator keeps it going.
also, Honda's (at least my CRX) wont do full alternator charge @ idle. when fully warm and no accessories on it will hover around 12v. when using engine braking it goes full 14v, when above 60km/hr or so it goes 14v, below 60km/h but not engine braking it stays 12.5vish. thats how they were designed.
