I was cruising on the freeway today when it suddenly felt like I hit a brick wall. The entire car shook and I was slightly thrown forward in my seat. As soon as it happened, my CEL came on, but the car returned to normal operation. Naturally, I immediately shut the engine off and coasted onto the shoulder of the freeway.

I turned the key back to "on" so I could check the CEL code, but the CEL was gone. I started the car back up and everything seemed normal. Normal oil pressure and normal A/F ratio. My eyes spend more time glued to my oil press. and a/f gauges than they do the road, so I can tell you that nothing was abnormal before or after the incident.

So what the hell happened? Is that what a misfire is? There were no unusual exhaust sounds. It kind of felt like the motor seized up for a second
