how to disconnecti rear hatch from power door locks
going to be getting a sound system soon and would like to disconnect the rear hatch from opening with power door lock switch so that the only way to open the rear hatch is with the key.
my teg is a 98 so it doesn't have a lever up front to open the hatch. does anyone a step by step guide on how to do this i don't want to cut the wrong wires.

how about removing the little ***** that allows you to lower the rear seats?...
i think there is no use on making a special switch to open the hatch without the lever on the hatch
why is it soo hard for honda to put a lever in the car for the hatch?!!!!!!!!!!

yea thats the one thing that pissed me off.. i got my car and was looking around and i used to drive a 89 4 door civic and it had a trunk latch inside.. so of all things i expected to find that.. but nope.. what a rip off! .. but yea theives will get what they want if they want it bad enough.. good alarm.. dark tint.. dont bang ur system around the ghetto?? lol i dunno
hmm noone knows??? i understand that anything in the trunk can be pulled out thru the rear seats but it will be more work to pull a box with 2 12's out from the seats than it is to pull em right out of the trunk

yea but if they want it bad enough they will find a way.. I had a "system" in my civic four about 4 years and it never got messed with.. lucky i guess.. but i just didnt play it loud around people or somewhere i was going to park at.. no alarm either..i had it bolted into my trunk so it wouldn't go anywhere without a fight.. so i would just get a good alarm

I was recently troubleshooting the wiring on my girlfriend's hatch taillight and I took off the plastic panel that covers the inside of the hatch. While I was in there I found a wire that activates the electric motor for the hatch lock. There should be a plug that you can disconnect that wire.

If you pop open the driver door panel, you will see a red box on the right side of the door. Its held in by a small bracket. take that bracket out and unplug that harness to the red box. I remember i was having trouble with my truch latch and i did that and it stopped unlocking when i unlocked the car. As for me right now, my latch motor doesnt work right so i have to put the key in and turn it all the way to get it open. Try the red box idea.

for wanting to ruin a car, but you could just install a 94-97 hatch.

How is he going to ruin his car? He just wants to make sure that the trunk can't be opened without the key to prevent theft.

wow. the answer is so simple. just take off the rear panel of the hatch and there will be a little black motor, with three (10mm?) bolts. i dont remember if you have to disconnect the little rod, but i believe you can just unplug this guy and remove it if you wish.
