Need help: Replacing an alxe on a 95 GSR?
I just read a write up on replacing an axle. I just want to know do you have to unbolt the drain plug from the tranny to replace an axle? After pulling the axle out, will the fluid will pouring out? Also, the write I read didn't say anything about pre-loading the bearing? If I have to, what is pre-loading the bearing? I did it before, but forgot how to preload... haha.. Anyways, I have to do my driver axle soon and I just need a few question answer before process can be able to continue. thanks... Also, anyone selling their gsr drvier axle? let me know.. thanks
You don't have to drain the oil, or do anything special,
Just take the old one out, and proceed in putting the new one in.
You will need a 32mm socket for the Axle nut though.

I know.. thanks for the informations... I have all the tools where I am able to do it with no problem. Just hate to have a stubborn lower ball joint where I have to beat the crap out of it before it come loose. anyone else have good advice before I proceed. thanks
There's a trick on popping the lower ball joint. Let me see if I can find a picture for you.

If you only jack up the side of the car you are working on, the tranny oil will flow to the other side and not out the vacant hole. I use 'the trick' on separating the lower ball joint and a short pry bar to separate the axle from the tranny housing or intermediate shaft. Good luck.
