if you have a 90-93 non-vtec integra because i heard if you adjust the timing belt by one tooth you get something like 20 extra horsepower, but thats just what i heard from someone who had an integra.

There are 'beefier' timing belts like Toda, but OEM Acura belts are good belts. If one of your cam gears has jumped a tooth, it's probably because the belt is too loose like you said. All you have to do is reset the cam gears and crank pulley back to TDC and then retension the belt. Inspect the belt for wear while your there and If you don't know the age of the belt, maybe you should consider replacing it. If you do replace the belt, replace the tensioner, spring and waterpump while your there. The hardest part of changing a timing belt is removing the crank pulley bolt, so be prepared for that.

As to the post about the car gaining 20 hp if the cam gear is adjusted one off from TDC, that could be true, if it was off to begin with. One tooth on the OEM cam gear is like 7 degrees on an adjustable cam gear. Maybe your friends timing was off a tooth to begin with, then adjusted to TDC and gained 20 hp, sounds more like it.

My car was one tooth off on the exhaust side, and ran like crap and was really loud. Maybe tuned with adjustable cam gears the LS will respond with a few more horses, but I am sure the low end torque that the engine is known for will move higher in the rpm range, which would be considered a poor trade-off if it is a daily driver.
