How many mods does it take to get an LS to keep up with and beat a GSR?

how many mods? just slap a turbo kit on there (one mod?) and it'll beat a stock gsr.

you're working w/ 30-35whp less, w/ longer gearing and lower redline. cheapest way is boost, as in bolt on kit. Then you not only able to keep up but beat them. if you want to keep it NA, then usual bolt ons, set of cams + SiR/GSR tranny or 4.785 FD w/ ITR/GSR diff. Or do a B20 + mild cams w/ boltons w/ shorter geared tranny. Basically about $1000-2000 in mods and you can run high 14's.

My favourite mods:
1> lightweight flywheel (10-12lbs is perfect for drag and response)
2> 2.5" header + cat and exhaust
3> cold air intake
4>mild cams

b16/Type-r, Gsr transmission, and you'll have a much better chance of keeping up.

Slap a B16 PR3 head with P30 Pistons on that B18B and the do as the other have already stated Si, Type R or GSR tranny....And you will walk all over them!

we need more info. i mean what cars(years) and suck. because i had a 91 RS chassis(with a 93 ls) with I/H and a bit of weight reduction and it would take Gsr's out. my ls was faster not just because of the weight reduction, but also the fact that the 90-91 cars came with a shorter ls tranny with a 4.4FD.

i got a b16 tranny w/ lsd and intake, intake mani, header, exhaust. GSRs with mods cant keep up let alone a stock one. just get a b16 trans and see where your at, youd be suprised..

The LS motor is way under rated most opf the time. It's a great motor. Good quality regular bolt on's will get you close. Gearing is deffinately an issue...as already stated.

N20 would be the cheapest route....i personally would do an LS/VTEC and boost it, but it really depends on your budget

Bolt-ons and a good driver should get you close.
I know my LS beat up on stock GSR's all day at the track. I've pulled a GSR on the freeway too. We'll see what my B20 setup nets.
