i replaced the valve cover gaskets on front and back and very carefully put it all back the right way and got in the car and the check engine light didn't come on with the start up lights. and when started the engine ran full throttle with out me touching it and i checked the cables and such. its a 96 v6 ex please help it sounds like a vacum leak but dont know which ones to check cause i cant run the motor.

 

valve cover has a gasket (1 gasket, around the valve cover's bottom) and 4 spark plug seals.... ....what did you replace "front" and "back"..???

 

Maybe you should read his post before you reply.. He has a V6, witch has 2 valve cover gaskets and 6 plug seals..

 

yeah it was just the one valve cover gasket on the back side by the firewall.

 

ok now i toook apart the throttle body and put a peice of cardboard with a little hole in it for just a little air i think the idle air control could be bad and i cant check for codes. would that sensor casue the check engine light not to come on at all even the start up lights.
