Vtec is not prevented. The window for Vtec is opened sooner, from 5,500 RPM to 3,000 RPM. Vtec still takes place, just has a longer window with the reflash.

I believe Vtec is always available from the moment you start you car. I do not believe it is regulated by engine tempature. But I could be wrong, I have never actaully read through the ECU program code.

Thanx for ur input...but ur kinda off...it butterflies from 4500 rpm to 5800 rpm...and any stock setting vtec does not kick in when the engine is not in proper temp or oil pressure...

ITS A SAFETY PRECAUTION FOR THE MOTOR, I-VTEC WILL NOT KICK IN UNTIL THE ECU SAYS IT IS A THE RIGHT TEMP AND PRESSURE. BUT I BELIEVE HONDATA IS SET UP THE SAME WAY WHERE VTEC ENGAGMENT ISNT REVEALED UNTIL THE ECU SAYS SO

I don't understand why people don't just e-mail hondata... or check the FAQs... I mean sure someone might know here, but someone WILL know there.
