is there any way to pass smog with a jdm motor? a friend told me he passed smog by adding another sensor? jdm motors are alot cheaper than usdm ones around here, so im trying to see which one i should get.

The Japanese motors are missing a few sensors so if you can swap over an american motor's IM and a couple other things it will pass smog.

yes, you can pass smog with a jdm motor. to get it BAR'd, you have to put all smog equipment back on the motor, use the usdm ecu, and make sure the motor is at least the same year (or newer) than your car.

Best bet. Or, you can legally meet the emissions mandates by running the vehicle on cng.
