Default HELP:Oil Pump+Oil Light+Whine+No Vtec =????

ok so ive been having this problem for a while but ive been putting it off for a few months mostly cuz i dont drive my car any more. its a 99 si gone threw a couple motors. this one is a b16 pretty stock besides a CAI. now i had a oil pump that i threw on there. when i was putting the motor together.

Problem: When i first start the car in the morning or after its been sitting for a while the oil light comes on for about 10-12 sec. once the light goes OFF. i hear a supercharger like whine. Once the car is warmed up the noise goes away.

also my vtec isnt working.

now my question is how likly is it that this is because of my oil pump?

and no i havnt checked my oil pressure yet..which i should but ill get to it...

Thanks in advance.

OH also is there a way to find out what a CEL code would be if the CEL clears after you turn the car off then on agian.

First thing, check your oil pressure. And if the CEL goes away every time then your going to have to be ready to pull the code before you turn your car off.

You plug a scan tool into the connector under the dash near the steering wheel, and pull the code out.

Not without damaging something. Do it right or dont do it at all this isnt something that you should play around with like you already have. That 10-12 seconds of the oil light is bad enough.

Did you change the pick up with the new oil pump?
