Discount what you heard about DC.. They are a GREAT budget piece. I have seen some DC's crack, but out of the thousands I've seen, only 2 I've ever heard of cracking. It's pretty much a myth. If you are looking to spend a little more money, the Comptech header is a beautiful piece, I'm very pleased. At $529 it's a bet. If you are interested I can set you up with the right people andyou can get one shipped out to you from KMS.

can you explain to me what header(s) are on a 4cylinder k20 motor?
the DC Race header only breaks due to it not having resonable flexability like a 2 piece header.
But if you're going the header route, I'd personally look into Comptech or even JR. Great power gains. Might also help if you told us what car and/or motor you have

If you want something with reliability and still don't get a CEL. look into a ITR header. it still has a cat on it but it is a 4 to 2 to 1 design which will give you more midrange. only thing is that you have to change out your sway with something else and get a 02 extender for the secondary. I've ran it for a couple of years and never had a problem. if you interested I can get you one too.
well i got a dc header and with intake and dc race header i made 181 whp which i dont think is not bad at all and if you have an o2 simulator your check engine light wont come on also im selling my DC race header because im turning my car back to stock and need some money so if anyone is interested PM me its only got like 3000 miles on it bought it in July i also have an o2 simulator so the check engine light doesnt come on

You will get a check engine light unless you fool the ECU with an electronic O2 simulator (such as the one from Casper Electronics), an O2 sensor adapter (also called a "mechanical O2 sim" around here) or reprogram the ECU and turn error codes off.
The mechanical O2 sim is pretty simple. You'd use two spark plug defoulers (sold under that "HELP" brand that you see at car repair shops), drill one out, screw them together, then use it to attach the secondary O2 sensor to your race header or test pipe. The idea is that the sensor actually measures exhaust gas flow, and by putting it farther from the pipe, it sees about as much flow as if it were attached normally to a catalytic convertor.

It won't fit without some extra work. The header-cat section (including a compatible race header) for the Type-S is longer and larger diameter than the same parts for the base model.

since you guys are already talking about headers, i have an ep3 and looking for headers too. i was about to buy some headers from a shop for 180, illegal for street use i think it might be non-brand not sure, but u guys think those would crack easily. And why are ceramic headers bad i thought it would be stronger.
Ceramic headers are just mild steel, sometimes not manufactured & finished as cleanly, then painted with ceramic-based paint.
OEM headers aren't painted. Partly for cost reasons, sure, but they last a long time, too.
