Carbon fiber questions
If you have a carbon fiber hood and you use hood pins, do you still need to retain the stock hood latch? If you have a c.f. trunk, do you need to use hatch pins?

you don't need to but people could randomly come up and unlock your pin and steal your sh-t.
you don't need a pin for the trunk, you need to understand the purpose of the pin in the first place. you need a pin for the front hood is that air passed from the air dam will rush out from the gap of the hood and push it up. in the trunk you have no opening or current of air pushing it put, infact you have a good amount of air passing overhead to keep it shut.
unless you have a gutted car with window open all the time while crusing at high speed, no.

Honestly, what do you guys mean by hood latch? What part of the car? The actual lever to pull it out?.. etc. Just trying to be safe, I heard one of my friends hood flew off on the freeway.
I have a EK Hatch with a CF hood.
Ah, I think I know what you mean, the latch behind the grill.
