Default clutch slip...

my clutch isnt even a year old yet, and it slips going into second and fourth at high rpm, like 7200. its on a d16y8 with i/h/e and stage 2 cam and valve springs. its an oem replacement clutch. could this be anything besides the clutch sucks?

Maybe or could be simply worn out. How many hard shifts do you do on it and are you shifting correctly are two other questions. Also could be dirt or some other residue on your flywheel.

it really depends on how hard you drive, and what kind of clutch. A worn clutch will start slipping in the higher gears in the power band.

its a daikin/exedy stock replacement. i mean i am a spirited driver but not some nutcase racing through the streets. yes it has been on the drag strip a few times, but i dont think it would already be worn.

thats weird, I have the same clutch, and it has been on my car for almost 2 years. I dont drive crazy, never been to the strip, but its slipped before at AutoX and stuff. Still works great for me.

it can grab fine in a lower gear and then slip in a higher gear. Good sign that its time for a new clutch. Drive easy on it till you get a new one.

come on now, its not that expensive. I think I got that same clutch on ebay for like $75, and installed it myself. No need to gamble your piggy bank away.

I am not saying it couldnt be anything else, but it sure sounds like a worn clutch the way you describe it.

dirt or residue on your flywheel? That sounds a little silly to me. I doubt much would be able to stay between the clutch and flywheel and cause slippage. And if it wasnt happening before, why now? I am staying with worn clutch. I guess pulling the tranny off and looking would tell you whats up.

Holy ****, your paying someone to do that? That will put a dent in the wallet. How much are you getting it done for, if you dont mind me asking. I dont remember what I was quoted, but it was an insane amount that inspired me to bust open my tranny for the first time and do it myself.

check your fluid in the resivoir...if it is low check the boot around your slave cylinder if you slide it of and it leaks oil its your slave and thats your problem....if not check inside the car under the dash if you see fluid leaking there, then its your clutch master...good luck
