Default Leak in Passenger-side footwell: Any suggestions?

Hey- have a '97 Civic that has been leaking rain water into the passenger-side footwell for the last month. I just want to know if anyone has an idea what could be causing this and how I can fix it before I start to rust-out. I am thinking that a missing splash shield on the passenger side may be the cause. It's a shot in the dark ,but the leak started as soon as the shield was taken off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

if you have an amp in the car, the place you had it installed at might have removed the gromet to run the power wire through the fire wall..check there 1st...it will kind of hard to see under the dash because the blower box is in the way...good luck..

Can you tell where its coming from under the dash? I had an issue with the weather stipping stuff on the black plastic piece thats at the base of the windshield leaking. I think water somehow was getting into the fan blower housing and leaking in from there... Another thought is the plastic plug in the footwell under the carpet. I gorilla glued mine to be on the safe side. That also involved removing all the carpet = pita

yeah- was actually watching the rainwater POUR in as I was driving - looked like it was coming out from the top of the wheel well (interior side)- that's why I was thinking the missing splash shield could have something to do with it. But I will def take a look into the blower motor and also the firewall seal. thanks

Sit inside of it and have some water the car down using a hose. It would help if you took the carpet out to see exactly where it leaks from. Not only that, it also gets that ugly damp smell out.
