Default Pulled up the carpet.............

Well i pulled up my carpet today to put a new carpet in, there was some surface rust in the back but where the seats bolts down. My main concern is that the foam insulation that starts where you put your feat and goes up behind the dash is soked on both sides. The only part that is wet is the part that curves up behind the dash. If you were to stretch your feet out all the way that is where the insulation is wet.

Nobody has ridden in the passneger side at all since i have owned the car and i dont have a/c anymore so thats not leaking. I know its not the heater core because its water not antifreeze.

Are there any know problems with water leaking in and soaking this area of the rug and insulation? There must be seals or something that are bad that are letting water in somewhere behind the dash. Someone told me that there are drains under the cowl for the winshield that might be plugged up or something but i dont see how that would let water in the car. I also cant find where those drain outside of the car. Do they even exist?

What do you guys think?

Your windshield might not be sealed anymore check it out with a Hose.... have somone sit in ur car with a flahlight and spray you car with a hose. See where the water is leaking in from.

well i just had a new windshield put in the beginning of this week so maybe that water is from before i had the windshield put in. I put the heat on the floor with the carpet out and the foam padding is pretty much dry so if it gets wet again i know its leaking.

I had the same problem with the foam stuff. it was leaking on my driver side. When thieves attemted to steal my car they tryed yanking on the hood cable from the out side and the cable just broke off from inside the car cuz they pulled so damn hard.

Since they did that it left a dime sized hole where the cable runs through. So whenever i was driving in wet weather, my tire would throw water into my car.

I fixed it with a washer, nut, bolt, and some caulking. No more leaks. and now a secret way to open my hood.

Mine leaks on both sides. I just recently had my winshield replaced so maybe that will stop the leak but i doubt it. The guy that put the window in broke some of the little plastic clips that hold the cowl on. If it still leaks then im going to try and spray it down with some water and see if i can find the leak. I also searched and noticed that people were having water come in because of a bad seal on the cowl and bad seals on the clips.

BTW honda had a tsb out for a water leak. They were saying it was a bad seal between the firewall and the bulkhead or something like that, people were saying honda was talking about the cowl seam but that didnt make sense to me. Anyone know anymore info on the tsb from honda?

i found the tsb on alldata's website but it just said that there was insufficient sealer on the seam between the bulkhead and the firewall. I searched and people were saying that honda wasnt fixing this for free.

Anyone know where the tsb is referring to? Are there any pictures that show where they know the water is coming from?

I talked with the guy at the body shop and he said there was no way it would leak in through that cowl piece and get into the car unless the drains for the cowl were plugged up. Where are the drains for that cowl?

I'm actually thinking of putting some seeds on the carpet and turn the inside of my car into a lighthouse type of garden.
