96 ek with gsr swap
Ok guys i just notice headgasket is leaking but i dont overheat. How do i know headgasket is bad. There is oil between the head where it meets the block leaking from there. So i dropped it off the shop it will cost $650 to replace with parts. Is that reasonable price?
Btw i have healthy usdm 97 gsr motor ,he did compression
Cyl 1 180
Cyl 2 180
Cyl 3 180
Cyl 4 180
I know i have healthy motor on my 96 ek. Its just my head gasket is bad? What do you guys think ?

i normally do all my work myself but one thing i can say to that is that they might just fix your old head gasket and put it back on there and charge you for a new one... and if your going to fix it... fix it better!
what do you guys think of my compression numbers? He has a dyno jet on his shop and will dyno my ek gsr hatch afterwards. Will post of dyno charts afterwards
also could the compression affect with oil leaking from the headgasket? Doesnt leaky headgasket lower compression readings?

Are you even sure it's a leaky headgasket? It could be a leaky valve cover gasket and oil is building up in that area. Did you clean it with brake parts cleaner to see where it was coming from?
yes i cleaned up with brake and wipe it off start the car and i could see oil on the headgasket seeping through its no valve gasket since its dry there
REALLY yea i dont overheat. But i can see the oil is weat on the headgasket it traces down the block stamp.Could be the headgasket is not sealed properly. It may not be blown but not sealed properly

His compression is NOT perfect.
180psi is LOW. It's good that they're all consistant, but a stock GSR should be in the 220-240psi range. You either have warn rings, or carbon buildup on your valve seats.

I bought my oem headgasket from honda for like 80 bucks, then i didnt have time to put it on because i had to work so i had a local shop do it for $150. same day. and they even took the head to have it machined.

Come on bro, My pistons look like brand new, just a little carbon build up. It was prolly oil leaking from hg with the low compression readings
Uh... yea bro... your pistons have nothing to do with it if your rings are leaky or your valves aren't seating properly. If your pistons themselves were leaking, they'd have holes and your car would barely run.
