Big Brakes -- thoughts?
Any thoughts on these.... i think they look SICK...

Adam from Z1 just got them installed on his Si. Here's a link to his thread.

And they can be ordered from here:

hahah pete
i already got a quote on them installed since i'm local
he's gonna get back to me since coming soon he's installing new pads and steel lines
however for about 500 more you can be in a full big brake kit with new calipers , lines etc etc
by the time u upgrade these you end up spending a grand or so

Even though it's not photochopped, it sure looks like it! For some reason, it just look too unreal and kind of comical. I have a feeling the kit would look better on 18s.
However, brakes are for stopping, not looking. And I have a feeling it would offer some serious braking power. But for ***** sake, upgrade the calipers while you are at it!

what i'm saying is ... you have cross drilled or slotted rotors and the rest of everything else is stock
its like putting in toda spec b's in w/out upgraded valve train and proper ECU tuning

Beautiful quote/analogy... I agree.

your putting uncessary wear on the OE brake pads...
same thing you would do to the OEM valve springs with Toda Spec B's
edit: just want to say that, i'm not trying to say don't do it or whatever. I'm just trying to help provide information. like i said up top, i think it looks good
. so hopefully you understand the anology as I'm not the only who does.

honestly i never want brembos again...had them in my evo and couldnt stand the brake dust, a 10 mile drive and my volks were black. Mainly these would be for looks only...

Well the problem with ANY brake upgrade is "90% of them dust)
personally for the si ( if you didnt wanna upgrade to BBK and you dont care about dusting occsionally)
Brembo blanks or slotted rotors
Axxis ultimates * super dusty but AWESOME pads* had them on my ep3
SS lines
Motul Blue fluid * if i recall *
and paint the caliper FLAT black
and call it a day

How are you putting unecessary wear on the OE pads just by upgrading the rotors? Slotted/drilled rotors are used in order to help disipate heat from the surface of the rotor more quickly to reduce fade & warping of the rotor... drilled/slotted rotors do not improve braking power.
..and yes I understand your analogy.

What happens to actual stopping distance when you shift your brake balance from 75/25 to, say 90/10?

.i had the green stuf pads and brembo cross drilleds on the teg...and it was alot of brake dust but damn...talk about stopping on a dime
however when they begin to wear out they SUCK....i need to invest in a whole new set of pads and rotors
