Default Setting ring gaps?

I am ready to start filing rings for my build. d16a6 block and head, 75.5mm SRP 4.3cc dome pistons, 12:1 final compression, 0.0025 piston to wall. I searched and everyone has differing opinions. I was shooting for:
Top: 0.015"
second: 0.016"
oil: around 0.015"
I am using JE XC chrome rings
any input would be great, thankx.

You can run .013-.014 on an NA app for the top ring. Second on oil rings look about right.

Why so wide? Turbo or nitrous?

No reason--I wanted to be conservative--like if the car overheats, I don't want problems--not saying I really "know" well--I already started doing 0.015" on top and 0.016" on the bottom. Not too bad, right?

Also, I don't want to rule out running 70-80 shot direct port--I think that is as low as you can go direct port, right? So I figured a little extra wouldn't hurt.

I am a bit confused on the "spring" part of the oil ring, when I put it in the bore by itself the ends butt up against each other--it looks like the ends are hitting and sort of compressing the rest of the ring--the actual two metal rings are fine--but should the "spring" part ever have to be trimmed, and would I cut it or just sort of file it? Don--Combustion?

The middle part of the oil ring set is designed to be under tension.Be sure when you assemble them on the piston that the ends don't overlap.
