Default b16a2 gerarbox in d16z6

will it fit? has anyone with experience in it? has anyone tried it yet?

I know, if it fits, I will need the axels and clutch form the b16a2 too.

I hate my stock z6 gearbox, the gear ratios are pretty bad compared to the d16a2.

The transmission from a B series engine will not bolt to your D series engine.

Someone *might* make some sort of adapter plate, but I've not seen/heard of one.

Have you looked into getting an SRR 4.929 final drive for your Z6 tranny? They are very nice and will shorten up the time in each gear considerably considering your stock final drive is a tall-*** 4.25.

I liked the idea. Didnīt know they did it.
After a quick research on it I found this: 'May require slight modification on inside of trans. casing.'

what kind of mod?

500 bucks, is it the price?
With cam, header, etc, itīs probably better to do a b16a2 swap... get similar performance for similar cost, and a way better potential....

Probably shimming the differential itself, but honestly I can't say for sure. Contact user Exospeed and ask him - he'll know for sure since he's a SOHC guru.

Tough call, and when it comes to SOHC vs. DOHC topics they end up blowing the hell up.

I'll tell you my personal experience, and this is coming from me being a 27 year old guy who has been into Hondas since 1995 or so and have owned the follwing - * indicates still owned:

D16Z6
D15B1
*D16A6
B16A2
B18C1
*B18C5

All, except for the D15B1, were modded with usual i/h/e stuff except for the D16A6 - it is slightly built with 11:1CR with different pistons, so it's fun.

After owning all of those engines IMO if you have the extra cash to buy a B16A2 over building the SOHC go for it. IMO you cannot top an OE Honda build, so would you rather have a 140whp stock reliable B16A or drive a cammed and upped compression SOHC engine and have to worry about if the machine work, parts, and build labor are all 100% perfect.

If you're on a budget then by all means stick with the SOHC. they can be pretty nasty when built, and honestly my little D16A6 with it's 11:1CR and stock cam, head, and even intake ran even with my wife's B16A2 when she had it. I also have a built tranny with Zc 1-4 gears in an Si case, but that's only possible because I have the cable style tranny - you've got a hydro.

Final thought?

Get what you can afford - period.

that's what she said.

no b and d series trannies don't interchange easily, as far as i know. Depending on the cost, look into just buying a full engine/trans.
