Default US and Canadian Wiring harness Problem.

Ok so in Canada the plug that plugs into the Alternator is a three wire plug, in the states a 4 wire plug...
In the us there is an extra wire White/Green that goes to the ECU. The canadian version does not have this. If I splice in the CND plug and just tape up the above mentioned wire that goes to pin 19 on connector A at the ecu, will ti do anything funky?
Thanks

I can tell you the extra wire is for the ELD that we didn't have in Canada, what I don't know is if not having it makes any difference.

Whoa... that was a 3-year-old post!

Anyway, I wondered if someone would ever run in to this Canadian/American engine wiring harness problem. AFAIK, the ELD and the DRL are the only differences between under-hood harnesses designed for the same 5th Gen engine in the two markets. (Well, there might be some other small differences that don't come to mind right now.)

It looks like a Canadian using a US harness can leave the ELD wiring unattached or removed entirely. A CDM ECU is not programmed to interpret input from the ELD. That said, the OP mentions a WHT/GRN wire which I fail to see has anything to do with the ELD, so that part remains a mystery. I'll see what else I can find.
