Who welds aluminum?
When it comes to welding aluminum, I'm out of the game. I can do smaw and gmaw, but that's as far as I can go since I don't have the equipment. I'm trying to make an aluminum oil accumulator and would need two end plates (not perfect, but decently) welded to to a 4" aluminum pipe. If anyone is up to the task, let me know. I can't pay too much for your services, but I could probably compliment you with some short sections of pipe if shipping isn't too much.
OR
Has anyone been successful at welding aluminum with the standard mig gun. I think the hose is about 12' and all I have is the 75/25 inert gas mixture. I wonder if it would be a waste to attempt this.

You can't weld alum.with a regular wire gun .You have to use A gun that is made to use alum. wire .Or it will just wind up in the rollers. You need a gun with either the spool in the hand held part or one like a Cobra matic where it has rollers in both ends of the liner.
Or you can just Heliarc it.

I did my Ali MIG ticket on a normal MIG machine.
Took forever to get the machine setup though.
Keep the gun cable as straight as possible and back off on the wire roller pressure as much as possible so that if the wire jams, the rollers will just roll and not cause the wire to birdsnest.
Also had a teflon liner in the gun as well.
Oh, and this was done on a CEA machine. Cant remember the exact model though...
