How to open hood with broken cable?
My little brother just bought an '88 CRX this morning. The cable is broken at the latch, well the previous owner told us to just pull on the cable through the grill. Well after leaving we come to find that the cable is removed from the hood/latch assembly. So now my question is, how do I get the hood open so I can replace the cable? Thanks for all your help.
get the car up in the air and get under it and try to find hte latch and pop the hood. Its sucks, try to do it on a car with a large fmic its a pita

If you don't have access to a lift...
Take the front bumper off, then you'll have access to the bottom of the t-brace. I had my cable break once, thats how I got it open.
Good luck.

if i had this problem i would look at a exploded view of a hood latch and see where the cable connects. then try to grab it with channel locks.

i had the same problem with my car and you dont need to open the hood to take off the bumper. the bolts are right behing the bumper lights and there are some screws on the side by the wheels. haha

Yea...I was gonna say wtf?
There are 4 17mm bolts behind the parking lights. 4 screws inside the fender wells
Thats it...then the bottom of the t-brace is exposed.

No, we popped the hood. The previous owner showed us how to do it, but then I reached under to pop it and pulled the wrong direction and pulled the cable out of the latch assembly.
