Default V-AFC install

alright so what should i do i just got my new JDM B18C and yeah they sent a USDM ecu with it and i had to have my car right away and i had the mechanic wire it up anyways and the V-TEC is not kicking in cause the computer and the engine aren't communicating with each other and he said that if i put in a V-AFC then it will fix the problem and i would be able to get V-TEC back and it would run like crap let me know how to fix the problem or if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks

what engine did you previosly have before?

i jus finished the same situation if you went from ls to gsr.

there needs to be extra wires that have to be connected to your engine to chasis harness.

and no, you do not have to have a vafc to make vtec work.

you have the right ecu right?

your chassis harness is probably missing the wire for the vtec solenoid.

any CEL's?

well i was told that since i have a JDM Motor and a USDM ecu like one of them has one more vtec sensor i believe the US ecu does so they aren't communicating right and if i get a VAFC then it will fix the problem if anyone knows how to fix my problem that would be great thanks

Your LS engine harness doesn't have the extra vtec wire. So you have to run a wire or wires, I don't think you need a VTEC controller, the ecu will control it.

i just finished this swap. you will need to run more than just the vtec wires.
you will also probably need to run the knock, iab, sensors.

heres a link to help you out. i got frustrated myself so i found a shop to do it for me.
check this link out!
